The pace of life is hectic. It’s easy to let time pass without prioritising yourself. There isn’t really a schedule for me-time and we often forget to take it as we frantically try to finish our list of tasks. We can all benefit from doing a little self-care on a daily basis. Practicing self-care techniques can nourish our mental health and reduce the likelihood of developing depression and other illnesses. It is important to take care of ourselves, and it begins at home. Here are some pamper day at home ideas to help with personal relaxation.
Set the scene
Before any activity, the stage must be set for a relaxing pamper day at home. The lighting is imperative so opt for low lighting, no matter what time of day it is. You might want to draw the curtains to shut out all daily distractions and light candles around the space. Listen to relaxing music and imagine yourself in a rainforest, on the beach listening to waves, or wherever your escape zone is. This will help you forget about everything else and take you away to that place you’ll stay for today.
Take a bath
Taking a soak in a nice warm bath is soothing. Water is soothing. Make sure you are not going to be disturbed, dig out your most luxurious products, fill the bath, and light the scented candles. Make it feel special by using products you don’t typically use on a daily basis. Use essential oils, like lavender or vanilla if possible for a tranquil ambiance. You could take a fruit tea in with you, or even a glass of wine. Whatever helps you relax. It’s not indulgent, it’s deserved.
Bath Robe
A cosy dressing gown and slippers are the perfect accompaniment to a pamper day at home. Putting on these fluffy garments is instantly relaxing, and today is all about setting the mood. Instead of using your everyday towels, look for the fluffiest ones you have. Make sure you roll them up to keep them close at hand. You will feel more relaxed wearing a robe, and you will feel more cared for.
Use a face mask
Cooling face masks are perfect for a pamper day at home. Don’t forget to pick up your favourites before the big day, you won’t have time to stop at the shops. Select a product that contains skin-boosting ingredients, aloe vera and honey are good choices, as well as anti-inflammatory properties. Apply all over the face and neck, and relax. You can apply before the bath or afterwards as you unwind on the sofa. It’s a great idea too to treat yourself to a hair mask, my favourite is scent is citrus orange.
Don’t forget other areas of your face too. Think about the using the right moisturiser, the best lash serum for self care and the best makeup products.
Body care
Use this time to catch up on any personal care you may have neglected. It’s a smart idea to exfoliate all over, a way to start over. Exfoliating will leave your body feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Prior to exfoliation, use a fruity body scrub to remove dead skin. The experience will feel absolutely divine. Finish things off by applying a silky moisturiser.
Hands and feet treatments
Hand and feet attention is just as important as the rest of you. You might want to give yourself the works and do a DIY manicure or pedicure, or you might want to just tidy things up. It’s your pamper day at home so entirely up to you. As a bare minimum, you’ll need the nail clippers, nail polish remover, nail file, emery board and your favourite nail polish to hand. Before you begin, it’s a great idea to soak your hands first with your favourite oil. When moving onto your feet, just like the body, you’ll want to soak for a good fifteen minutes, before you exfoliate, massage, tidy-up and apply any nail products.
Make sure to pick up all your spa products in advance so that you can have a pamper day at home without interruption. Plan ahead so you can enjoy a self-care day with little to no notice once you’ve made these purchases next time you’re at the shops.
